Making sense
of complex work.

I draw on 30 years of international experience across design, technology, and human behavior to help organizations understand complex problems, find a direction, and turn ideas into practical solutions.

InfoApps: Making Analytics Usable

At Information Builders, we developed InfoApps to make analytics accessible through focused, interactive applications. I authored the UX methodology and interface guidelines, establishing consistent patterns for choosing data, refining results, and personalizing outputs.

The approach gave users a repeatable way to explore information while giving teams a shared foundation for designing each app.

Finding the Structure Beneath the Interface

I map the categories, relationships, and terminology within complex systems to create a clear foundation for design. Making that structure visible helps teams examine how information and functionality should fit together.

This example maps formatting controls and their related options, revealing the hierarchy behind an interface.

One Conversation. Shared Understanding.

My approach begins with a primary interviewer who guides the initial questions and builds an empathetic connection with the participant.

The interviewer then invites each team member, one at a time, to ask clarifying questions. This creates space for deeper inquiry while extending rapport across the team and keeping the conversation coherent for the participant.

Prism Thinking in Practice.

International workshops that helped shape the approach: listening closely, making complexity visible, and finding a direction together.
I developed Prism Thinking from decades of international work helping teams understand complex problems before moving toward solutions. Its six stages—See, Center, Shift, Create, Shape, and Move—bring different perspectives into a shared process for turning insight into action. The workshops shown here helped shape the framework and its emphasis on listening, questioning assumptions, and finding a direction together.

Building a Shared Research Practice

I led a three-day workshop for a large team of WebFOCUS engineers, combining scenario exercises with interview training. The sessions focused on understanding users, examining assumptions, and building shared understanding before moving toward solutions.

Finding Bottlenecks Across Borders

During a week-long engagement supporting F-35 engine management system projects, I worked with GE Aviation teams to examine supply-chain challenges between the UK and the US. Together, we mapped the work, identified bottlenecks, and streamlined processes across locations.

Experience
across boundaries.

My work connects design, technology, research, and human behavior. This portfolio brings together client engagements, original frameworks, and the tools I’m building to make those ideas useful.

Building these apps with Lovable and ChatGPT extends that practice, giving me a way to translate my frameworks into interactive experiences people can explore for themselves.
